D-Link DSL 2750U Convert to WAN Ethernet Router
Mostly users are migrating from phone ADSL broadband connections to their local Internet Service Providers WAN Ethernet connections. Those users were mostly using Dlink 2750U or 2730U ADSL Modems. D-Link sells two different models in India (2750U for only ADSL broadband and DIR-615 for only WAN Ethernet broadband connections). However, about 95 % of users who were using DLink 2750U doesn’t know that it’s actually capable of both ADSL broadband and WAN Connections.
Today we will see how we can add the functionality of WAN Ethernet connections to our D-Link 2750U Router in just few simple steps. Friends, we require the latest firmware according to the hardware version we have (look under the tag of the Router):
Easy steps to follow: (Duration: Less than 2 minutes)
1) Connect D-Link 2750U with an Ethernet Lan Cable on any Port 1,2, or 3 with the computer.
2) Assign your computer with a Static IP address 192.168.1.x (Ip address), 255.255.255.0 (Subnet), 192.168.1.1 (default gateway).
3) Open browser and type 192.168.1.1 and router page will open. Note down the firmware version from the top right corner.
Note: Check the Hardware Version from the tag under the router. Download the firmware exactly for the same hardware version number you have.

4) Press & hold the Reset switch at bottom of the router for at least 10 to 15 seconds, all lights will start blinking.
A new Firmware Upgrade page will open, click Choose File, select the downloaded firmware and click Upgrade. At bottom left corner you will see the progress. Once completed, the router will reboot.
5) Open 192.168.1.1 and click Setup – Internet Setup – Select the type of protocol connection (PPPoE, Dynamic, Static or Bridging) your ISP provides. (call ISP, say you have a new router connected at home or office, he will guide you the configuration). Most of the times ISP knows that when a customer changes a new router, it won’t work until they will refresh the mac address of it in their database.
Most ISP’s provide internet connection by restricting access to only one router connection so that you don’t share it with your neighbors or someone else. So, don’t hesitate to contact your ISP trying everything yourself.
In 90% of the cases, as soon as ISP refreshes the Mac Address, the internet starts immediately. Still, if it doesn’t work, leave the rest on the ISP, get your router checked. Make all the settings default and then try to re-configure.
According to my experience, I assure you that 99% of the times if you are able to bring the option Ethernet besides DSL on the 192.168.1.1 page, the internet will definitely work.
Friends, once you convert it to WAN Ethernet Router, the firmware shared in this post will enable this D-Link 2750U to work both as ADSL and Wan Router.
So if someone is using ADSL connection, he can also try upgrading, it will help him in the future.

My modem’s hardware version is I1. How to use it to a WAN Ethernet router.
Try with all the versions one by one. If it fails, revert will provide you with the resolution further.

My 2750u router’s wan port started to work but I am getting only upto 1 Mbps speed. My ISP provider gives speed of 50 mbps. He suggested to buy other router it has speed limit, pl help.
Hello Narottam, I would like to assure you that D-Link 2750U doesn’t have any speed limit. The speed you are provided by your ISP will be delivered by D-Link 2750U. You will not find anywhere about speed limits in D-Link 2750U. Kindly re-connect with ISP, tell him you will not connect any router in between, connect Wan Cable from ISP to your computer directly and show the actual speed, I guarantee you will not find 50 mbps. Moreover, I showed in the video I got 21 mbps speed and my plan is also the same. So please watch the video once again.

Download the firmware again. Check you are selecting the right file and right option to upgrade. Try in another computer. It works.
My ISP has got service name, where to change the same. I am not able to do so and even not mentioned in your post/ video.
Apologize for the delay in replying. You can’t change the Service Name in this Router. Ask them the username and the password. This router has the by default Service name which works when correct username & password is entered. Hope this works, in case you face any issues do reply.

which requires a router without ADSL. Is there any way the old router can configured to use this old router as an extender or repeater for DG_HR1400 router.Hope you can find a solution

I am sorry to say it uploads the file from Lan Cable and it can only connect to PC/Laptop. So, if you can take this router to someone who has PC and upgrade it to Wan Ethernet Router, you can use it with WAN Link.
i have a dlink dsl 2750u which has a different interface when i log in the ip address, i had bsnl configured on this modem before and now i switched to optic fibre (Gwave). how can i switch my configuration to optic fibre?

DSL 2750U Router only has the option to connect via Ethernet cable. Hence, you can buy Fiber to Ethernet convertor (media converter) which will help you in this conversion. Try checking the same on Amazon.

Try with all the firmwares one by one. A1 is specially made for India. You need to try all. Try 2730U firmwares also.
disable the QoS will increase the speed
You can try disabling it, basically, it helps in video streaming content. Try changing the channel and channel width to 40 MHz. You have to keep in mind that it’s an ADSL router that has limitations when compared with full WAN Ethernet Router. I hope you got my point.
Hey Ajey Sir, I used the above steps to upgrade firmware. It got updated. I have a ethernet of 20Mbps speed but I am getting output of only 600Kbps from Modem. Any idea how to fix this?
