Turn off Automatic Update check of IDM (Internet Download Manager)

We all use Internet Download Manager (IDM) to download files, videos, pdf’s, and other internet stuff. If you are using a genuine version, you are good to go with updates. However, as most folks use trial or pirated versions, it starts showing update prompt after the interval of a few days. It’s annoying when the prompt appears in the middle of important work and you have to close it without having any other option. I will show you how to turn off the automatic update check of IDM permanently by tweaking Registry value LstCheck.

Internet Download Manager (IDM) is configured to automatically check the latest available updates in the background and if the latest version is available, it starts showing the update prompt. There is no option to stop this update in IDM User Interface.

To get rid of Automatic Update Check Of IDM update prompt, you simply need to tweak the registry of your computer. Let me walk you through how easy it is:

1) Open Run or press (Windows Key + R) on keyboard & type Regedit.

2) Take the backup of the registry on desktop as a precautionary measure.
Click File > Export > Export Range: All > Name:Registry Backup – Save it on the Desktop.

3) Go to the location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DownloadManager\LstCheck – change year to be 99 as shown in the picture.

4) Close Regedit & Restart your machine, Internet Download Manager will stop showing any update prompt from now. Enjoy the neat & clean IDM.
